Scooter Scrub and Mammogram Event Success! |

We are just a week and half away from our big event at Wall Street Plaza and things are really stirring! Here is just a brief update of what’s been happening over the past couple of weeks:
The Scooter Scrub and Car Cleanse at Olde Town Brokers was a huge success! We were able to raise over $3500 with large gracious donations coming in from Raul Alvarez and Bill Behr. Everyone who came out deserves a huge round of applause with a special thank you going out to SueBee for organizing the event and Sharlie with Vitamin Water for making sure everyone stayed hydrated.
The Free Mammogram giveaway on April 30th proved to be not only a beneficial to the women who received one of the 16 free mammograms but we were able to make those who attended feel welcome and comfortable in a very stressful time. We would like to thank the Women’s Radiology Center for donating a portion of the cost for this great cause, but to also thank the doctors, nurses and staff for going above and beyond for this event. We were able to not only provide mammograms for 16 women but also give them immediate results and peace of mind. In addition to the facilities, the Women’s Radiology Center also presented Libby’s Legacy with a check for $2500!!!
Scooters4Hooters 2nd Annual Legacy Ride is May 18, 2008! We have an amazing event planned this year, based out of Downtown Orlando's Wall St. Plaza, and including a 22 mile ride, survivor tributes, live music, raffle prizes, live and silent auctions, vendor booths and more! Even if you aren't a scooterist, please join us in supporting Libby's Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation and help others Live Big! If you are planning to ride, register now: $20 before the event, $25 at the door. Registration is necessary to participate in the ride and includes parking, entrance to the Wall St. Plaza festivities, a t-shirt and a swag bag of goodies! (Quantities are limited, please pre-register to guarantee a t-shirt and bag.) You can email us at participants@scooters4hooters.com with any questions.
Remember that it was your support and generosity that enabled us to help so many deserving women with mammograms and your support that will send a Stage IV cancer patient on a trip with her loved one!, let's show the entire nation what our community can do this year with this grassroots effort started right here in Orlando!
Thank you for helping me see my Mom's spirit live on every day through your support,
Robin Maynard |

Scooters4Hooters began as a legacy scooter ride through Orlando, in support of Libby's Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation in 2007. Libby's Legacy was started in honor of Libby Maynard, by her daughter Robin, after losing her mother to Stage IV Breast Cancer. All proceeds from the annual ride and other events go to Libby's Legacy. The mission of Libby's Legacy is to grant wishes, create memories and assign patient advocates for Stage IV Breast Cancer patients battling this disease and help them with the hardships associated with health related job loss. Scooters4Hooters was created to be a fun and unique way to support this dream.
While Scooters4Hooters has events throughout the year, the Scooters4Hooters Annual Legacy Ride is our major event. This year the festivities are being hosted by the kind folks at Wall St. Plaza, in Downtown Orlando. The event begins at 12p, with the actual ride starting at 1p. The 22-mile, police-escorted ride through the most scenic streets and neighborhoods in Orlando will kick off the day. Returning to Wall St. Plaza, we'll have live music, survivor tributes, live & silent auctions, raffles, vendor booths and more! We have some major sponsors this year, some incredible raffle prizes and some amazing stories to tell.
Please join us on May 18th, 2008 for the Scooters4Hooters Annual Legacy Ride. Ride participation is $25 at the event, $20 when you pre-register. Even if you not a scooter rider, please join our Celebration of Life at Wall St. Plaza. Bring your mother, sister, wife, friend, husband, son...well, anyone you love, really! Help us to help others do more than just survive, and to truly Live Big! |
